Give your reef aquarium star treatment with the coral that started the Cyphastrea craze. The Cyphastrea Coral propagated here at our sports a gorgeous teal-green body color with contrasting red-orange colored corallites. While initially forming relatively tight clusters, the corallites gradually drift; taking on the appearance of meteors streaking across space as this encrusting coral matures, thus living up its celestial namesake. Its striking coloration, moderate care level, and fast-growing nature makes our Cyphastrea Coral a great choice for all reef-keepers and coral collectors.
The Cyphastrea Coral is moderately easy to care for, requiring moderate to strong aquarium water movement combined with moderate lighting conditions achieved by T-5s, powerful LEDs or the more intense metal halides. It is important to leave ample space between the Cyphastrea Coral and neighboring corals in mixed reef aquariums since it can grow rather fast under ideal conditions.
The Cyphastrea Coral satisfies the majority of its nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body. It will benefit from supplemental feedings in the form of micro-plankton or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates. For its continued good health, it requires the addition of calcium, magnesium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.
