Learn More About Your ORA Green Tip Pink Birdsnest

Description

The ORA® Aquacultured Green Tip Pink Birdsnest Coral is a beautiful color variety of Pink Birdsnest Coral. As its name indicates, the Green Tip Pink Birdsnest Coral is distinguished by its delicately colored tips. As the coral grows, its rounded tips produce polyps sporting a ghostly blue-green hue imparting an ephemeral “glow” that gives the tangled birdsnest appearance unique character.

The ORA Green Tip Pink Birdsnest Coral will thrive in a variety of lighting conditions, ranging from power compacts, T-5s, powerful LEDs and up to the more intense metal halides. The ORA aquacultured corals satisfy the majority of their nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body. Under the right conditions, the growth rate of aquacultured corals is more rapid than most of the other corals found in an established reef aquarium.

To maximize growth, it is imperative to maintain high water quality with proper pH, alkalinity and calcium levels, and to keep phosphate and nitrate levels as close to zero as possible. If conditions are ideal, these corals can also be cultured and grown into a new colony from living fragments or broken pieces.

Along with lighting and water quality, provide the ORA Green Tip Pink Birdsnest Coral medium to strong, intermittent water flow within the aquarium where water flow can reach throughout its structure as it grows. This is best accomplished with a wave maker and multiple powerheads. The ORA Green Tip Pink Birdsnest Coral receives a majority of their nutritional requirements from photosynthesis, but will benefit from the addition of zooplankton or foods designed for corals and invertebrates.
